Avigail Sachs
Avigail Sachs teaches Landscape and Architectural History and Theory. She is currently completing a book manuscript on the history of the idea of 'Environmental Design' in postwar USA. She has also been investigating housing and building traditions in Southern Appalachia. A publication based on her dissertation study, 'The Postwar Legacy of Architectural Research' received the 2009-2010 Journal of Architectural Education Best Scholarship of Design Article Award. She has also contributed to several edited volumes, including Architecture School, Three Centuries of Educating Architects in North America, Matters of Use: An Alternative History of Architecture and A Second Modernism: MIT, Architecture and the 'Techno-Social' Moment. Prior to beginning her doctoral studies Avigail taught design studio for several years at the Technion, Israel Institute of Technology. Concurrently, she worked as a Project Architect on a $50,000,000 Sail Tower in Haifa, Israel.
